Who we are?
The Lahore Race Club was founded in 1924 when Lahore was a part of the Punjab of British India and still carries the stateliness of those times. We are distinguished for bringing forth the race tracks with scenic views of lush green lands and the grandstand showcasing the beautiful Lahore. We are a true testament of racing visionaries, offering them vast tracks to ride on.
We believe that there’s nothing quite like taking home a winner and that too when it is a horse that you have your hopes on. We thrive to give everyone an equestrian performance escape and expect all members to take part in our fun ethos.
Our History
Lahore Race Club was formally instituted in 1924, when it was registered under the Companies Act with the registrar of Joint Stock companies on 18 January 1924, although the races were being held since the last decade of the 19th century. The club celebrated its centenary in 1975. A governing body from amongst the prominent dignitaries and senior civil and military officers was formed to oversee and control the activities of the club. Over the years a great deal of improvement took place and Lahore became a prominent racing center. The Punjab Derby was instituted in 1946. After independence, it was renamed Pakistan Derby in 1948. It is the most prestigious classic race of the country and the top event in Lahore’s racing calendar.
Lahore Race Club, a distinguished institution in the world of horse racing, has a rich and storied history that dates back to its inception. Over the years, it has evolved into a symbol of elegance, tradition, and sporting excellence. Let’s journey through the historical milestones that have shaped Lahore Race Club into what it is today.
Our Vision
Our vision is to restore the strong association between the man and horse. The history of horse racing, as a sport, is almost as old as the bond a man and horse share. It has been known as the ‘Sport of Kings’ indulged by the nobility and royalty from the old times. We thrive to make it a sport enjoyed by today’s generation.
Our Mission
We aim to be a family club of choice for Lahore’s citizens seeking recreational equestrian activities in a lush green setting. We dedicate ourselves to become an esteemed venue for people to interact, relax and improve their state of mind, to promote and restore the friendly culture that our club is reputed for, and to protect the natural environment in which the club is located. We are devoted to providing an environment in which the members and staff can develop and enjoy working productively in.
